Fuck Vista...
Well how do I begin this story...
My PS2 broke not too long ago, and with the holidays coming up and a PS3 in sight along with Metal Gear Solid 4, I decided to brush up on the series. I easily emulated the first game on a PSX emulator, and now being on the second game, I looked for a PC port. Luck was on my side, but turns out it's a rather poor one. Anyways, the requirements are pretty heavy and my Dell Inspiron 530s can't handle the game, so I figured I'd just bring it over to my mega monster of an HP across the hall and boot the game up no problem. Turns out, the game is not compatible with Windows Vista at ALL because of sound issues. The only way around these issues is a program called Alchemy by Creative, but in doing so messes up the sound (like this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXBnIf0YgWk). It's been so frustrating because I've been looking all over the place for a solution and NOBODY has been able to fix it. So again, fuck Windows Vista.
(Just so you know, I can't downgrade to XP because my HP is shared among myself and my dad, who favors it over XP).

You want to use PSX? But you can't? Hmmm... I have PSX but never used. I'll try finding a game to test.

PSX? What are you talking about? I'm trying to run the PC version of MGS2.

I thought you want to play... Wait, MGS have on PSX? I don't remember. Guess not. You want to know, try set the compatibility to XP SP2 since an old game.

Re: Fuck Vista...
Tried that, it doesn't make a bit of difference at all. You don't understand, I've done the most comprehensive research possible in order to fix this game for Vista.
This has nothing to do with PSX or emulation. This has to do with the PC version for Metal Gear Solid 2. It was ment for XP and my battle is making it run properly on Vista.

Re: Fuck Vista...
HEY!!! HEY!!! I CAN HELP!
Theres this awesome program called virtualbox. It's just a free Virual machine creator, but unlike vmware viewer (the only free one), you can create your own DIMs (dynamically expanding hard-drive images) and Vms. What you do is get the ISO or CD, create a VM and DIM, and set it to boot from your cd drive or an ISO image, and install. An XP install takes about 2 gigs of space. I would Highly reccommend this, its a very easy way to get around these things.

Are you serious? So I'm basically emulating XP? Could you go into a bit more detail? I'm not quite sure how this works but I really appreciate your help.

Re: Fuck Vista...
I think he means like making a dual boot. So, you can have both Vista and XP like he said when chatting with me to install Ubuntu on my comp.
Now, I've seen the video. Yeah, what the hell with it's sound. My brother played MGS2 PC on XP long time ago don't have the sound problem. The sound is like shit. Yeah. Do dual boot. At start up you can choose whether XP or Vista. You can choose what best suites you. In my opinion, games on XP while anything else in Vista.

Re: Fuck Vista...
That's what I'm saying. I read somewhere that the PC sounds for MGS2 are generated on the fly based on a certain event (or something like that) and I think the way Vista handles the sound effects in the game mess that up. I'm familiar with dual booting and I think it could work, I'd have to see.
